Catholic University seeks to raise funds for the restoration of Cardinal Hall—the third oldest building on campus—in order to convert it into a state-of-the-art Enrollment Management and Student Business Service Center. Located at the University’s main entrance on Michigan Avenue, this hall will make an exemplary first impression for prospective students and their families. In honor of his exemplary twelve years of service to the CUA community, Cardinal Hall will be renamed in honor of the University's president, David M. O'Connell, C.M., J.C.D.

| O'Connell Hall is already a building that speaks of enduring character. With its stunning great hall, handsome mahogany woodwork and intricate carved ceilings, the Indiana limestone building is a physical representation of the University’s rich tradition and history. Standing on its steps, one can survey an impressive campus—the campus mall, the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, the historic buildings of Gibbons Hall, Caldwell Hall, McMahon Hall and the Mullen Memorial Library, allowing students to appraise the many opportunities within their reach through a Catholic University education.
Student-Centered Focus
A restored O'Connell Hall would create a new student-centered business hub whose focus would be recruitment of new students and retention of current students by transforming 70,000 square-feet of space into an efficient, modern center through which students would enter the life of Catholic University. The new O'Connell Hall would bring together a variety of offices such as Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, Student Accounts, Student Housing and other related services to meet the needs of both prospective and current undergraduate and graduate students. As the site of the first encounter for future students and their parents, it will communicate clearly that we value and understand their needs by making matters such as enrolling, paying bills and registering for classes convenient and easy.
The new O'Connell Hall would become a visual and physical representation of quality, a valuable resource in helping CUA to increase its undergraduate and graduate enrollments by demonstrating to prospective students that our academic product —both our academic reputation and our educational environment—is among the best in the highly competitive world of undergraduate admissions.
